Student Leadership

Affecting Positive Change

Our student leaders are motivators, someone to listen, and help build culture by modelling our College values. As a College we encourage students to make a positive impact on their world and student leadership is an opportunity to proactively create an environment they are proud of.

Through leadership, students develop skills that will help them become effective leaders beyond their schooling years, whether in the workplace or their community. Our leaders are empowered to contribute to areas they feel passionate about and have the ability to affect positive change.

Student Leadership encourgages:

  • Empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Team building
  • Communication skills
  • Working with a diverse range of people
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem solving
  • Motivating and encouraging others to work towards a goal
  • Inspiring others towards a shared vision
  • A sense of responsibility and ownership through direct involvement in the organisation of events such as fundraising and sports days.

Each campus has Campus Captains and House Leaders. Some teams or groups that meet regularly have more specialised leaders, such as Music Captain and Pedal Prix Team Captain. Students may also model values through their contribution to focused groups such as the Ecological Group or Environmental Team.

Our Gawler Belt Campus Captains participate in an annual leadership conference at Salesian College Chadstone, an opportunity to network and share experiences with other student leaders from Salesian schools around Australia.
