Pedal Prix Race – September 2024

The Senior Pedal Prix team achieved amazing success securing 9th position in their class at the legendary Murray Bridge 24 hour race. Finishing within the top ten in this huge, ultra-competitive fleet is a massive accomplishment.

It is difficult to comprehend the enormous effort required to ride flat out in repeat stints (some lasting more than an hour) to complete a 24 hour race. The riders also had to deal with limited sleep between racing stints and had to be constantly focused to avoid frequent high speed crashes among 154 vehicles weaving on this difficult circuit. The College, along with families and team mates are so proud of Ethan, Cameron, Elijah, Owen, Daan, Dean, William, Eli and Joseph.

Volunteer Eddie, spent hours preparing the vehicle prior to the race and it performed faultlessly. This was a vital contribution to the team’s success because any time spent undergoing repairs would have significantly impacted race position in this tight competition.

Once again, an amazing group of parent volunteers handled race timing, mechanical support, rider changes, meal preparation, cleaning, tent building and pack up. The race team could not participate in this event without this magnificent support from volunteers too numerous to mention and we are extremely grateful for their enthusiastic participation.

Racing success is the target, but students and families enjoy so much more from Pedal Prix events. The race also fosters togetherness and positive interactions, with time to socialise with friends from other teams. This includes past students now racing in adult divisions who never fail to come and share the experience with the our community. This year we were lucky to be visited by Jim Roberts, the staff member who established our Pedal Prix program and he was thrilled to see the current team members and families enjoying the event.

We give heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our three Pedal Prix teams this year.
