Partnership with Liverpool FC International Academy Australia

Liverpool Football Club today announced the expansion of its International Academy program to South Australia with the creation of a new partnership with Xavier College.

This expansion will see Xavier College become the home of the first Liverpool FC International Academy in South Australia and the first school in Adelaide to offer a high-performance soccer school program delivered by LFC International Academy Australia in 2024.

The launch involved students across all three campuses with a live stream from the Gawler Belt Campus to Evanston and Two Wells.

Besides the high-performance soccer initiative, the collaboration with Xavier College promises to deliver a plethora of exhilarating opportunities for the community. The College will become the hub for several Liverpool FC International Academy community training sessions and holiday programs. Open to every budding player in the neighbouring areas, these programs offer a chance to experience learning to play “The Liverpool Way”. Liverpool Football Club’s commitment remains steadfast in fostering a passion for the sport and building a thriving soccer community both on and off the pitch.

“This is an exciting collaboration between Liverpool Football Club International Academy Australia and Xavier College. We share similar values as well as a strong desire to integrate world leading football into the College. In addition, we are tremendously excited to offer our programs to the broader community. Finally, this presents students of Xavier College pathway opportunities into tertiary education in sport, health and fitness at the Australian College of Physical Education. We look forward to welcoming Xavier College to the LFC International Academy and Australian College of Physical Education families.” Kevin Kalinko, Director of LFC International Academy and Australian College of Physical Education said.

These high-quality programs will focus on developing players technically, tactically, and physically but also input into social and mental development, career pathways and life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership.

“It is truly a privilege to be able to collaborate with the Liverpool Football Club International Academy Australia, and to be the first College to do so in South Australia. This collaboration is not only exciting because of the programs and opportunities available for our students and the wider community, it’s exciting because of the alignment in values between Xavier College, LFC International Academy and ACPE.” said Mark Flaherty, College Principal.

Developing local coaches is another central component of LFC’s approach. We will hope to also have local coaches interested in joining a team of more than 700 coaches working in Liverpool FC International Academies around the world to reach out and learn more about becoming an Academy coach.

Heads of Campus at each location, Rozanna Elmassih – Evanston Campus, John Cameron -Gawler Belt Campus and Janet Coomber – Two Wells Campus were all in agreement that “The opportunity these programs and pathways will offer our students is immense and we look forward to seeing the development of our students through the Liverpool Football Club International Academy.”
