Nickolas Selected to National Boomerangs Program

During the school holidays, Gawler Belt Year 9 student Nickolas was selected to join the AFL’s 2024 National Boomerangs Program. He was one of just 40 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men chosen from across Australia, showcasing his exceptional talent and potential.

The National Boomerangs Program is a three-day event that took place in Melbourne and included a comprehensive schedule of activities aimed at fostering both athletic and personal development. Participants engaged in a variety of experiences, including personal development and cultural workshops, football training sessions, and recovery programs. These elite talent development pathways are designed not only to enhance football skills but also to promote leadership qualities and cultural understanding among the young athletes.

Nickolas’s selection for the AFL’s National Boomerangs Program not only highlights his individual talent but also underscores the importance of providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with opportunities to excel in sports and leadership.
