Dyson Debuts in SANFL

In a remarkable achievement for a 17-year-old, Year 11 student Dyson has been called up to the SANFL Central Districts side for the team’s finals matches. This opportunity to compete in the men’s league represents a significant milestone in Dyson’s football career, offering him invaluable experience against more physically advanced opponents.
Dyson, reflecting on the experience, noted, ‘The level of footy is much faster and more physical, with quicker decision-making. I’ve had to tweak my game a bit to adjust to the pace and size compared to what I’m used to. Going from being one of the biggest players on the field to a more average size has definitely been an adjustment.’
He also commented on the increased intensity of the games, highlighted by Central Districts’ recent narrow 11-point victory. ‘The games are a lot closer, and there’s a lot more pressure. It’s been an incredible experience to play in these tight contests and develop new skills and good habits from my team.’
Dyson, who is currently a highly touted AFL prospect, is setting his sights on the 2025 draft. With a busy year ahead, he aims to showcase his talent through potential selections in the AFL Futures and AFL Academy programs. Despite his future ambitions, Dyson remains focused on his current goal: helping Central Districts win their finals games.
‘I just want to keep helping my team win through these finals. It would be amazing to win the whole thing’ Dyson said.
As Dyson continues to make strides in his football career, his dedication and performance on the field are certainly ones to watch.
