Call for Nominations for the College Board

I would like to thank several Board Members, who after completing a number of years of service to our College Board, are now passing on the baton with the opportunity for new members to join.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the College Board, please forward a one-page expression of interest to Carolyn Pape via email [email protected] by Tuesday, 11 March 2025, outlining your area of expertise and what you can bring to the College Board.

About Board Membership

Being a Member of a School Board involves many kinds of responsibilities and relationships. The information that is shared demands protocols that need to be understood and observed by all. Board Members must know how to handle confidences, the action to take if matters are referred to them and how they should relate to the school community. Members should be representative of the interests of all the partners in the school.

In accepting a position on the Board, Members indicate they believe in its ethos, have a genuine interest in the school and wish to give something in return for the benefits they might have received as a student, parent or caregiver.

Membership of the Board will be for a period of two years for elected, nominated and appointed members. Members (other than Ex-Officio Members) should not serve more than six consecutive years.

Membership of the Board, where possible, will reflect the diversity of the school community. The inclusion of different voices, experiences and perspectives that support the Catholic ethos of the school will enable the Good News to be proclaimed and lived with freshness. A wide representation is required in order that all groups found in the school community are represented on the Board. At the same time cognisance needs to be given to the Board being able to carry out its delegated responsibilities.

As a Board member, you should:

  • possess an enthusiasm for and willingness to promote the mission of Catholic schools;
  • bring to the Board your gifts and skills;
  • desire to give service to your school community;
  • have an ability to work cooperatively and constructively with all Members of the Board;
  • be prepared to undertake formation;
  • have an ability and desire to uphold confidentiality in Board matters;
  • support the Principal in authorised functions and refrain from intruding in administrative details;
  • have sufficient time to devote to Board duties; and
  • have a current police check clearance through the Archdiocesan Police Check Unit.
