Support for Project Compassion
Each year, the Xavier College community comes together to support Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion appeal, a tradition that coincides with the Lenten season leading up to Easter. Caritas Australia, an integral part of the Catholic Church’s global humanitarian efforts under Caritas Internationalis, operates in 36 countries across Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and Australia, extending aid to both international and local communities, including our First Australian communities.
Project Compassion serves as Caritas’ primary fundraising initiative, embodying the spirit of generosity and compassion. This year, the Xavier College community proudly raised $13,234.00 in support of Caritas’ invaluable work.
In the spirit of giving without expecting anything in return, community members contribute to Project Compassion without any associated raffles or fundraising events. It is simply about fostering a culture of Christian love and charity within our community.
An engaging activity that unfolded on Xavier College’s Evanston Campus involved students bringing in coins to form the acronym ‘RUAH’, representing the College’s values of Respect, Understanding, Affection, and Humour within each House.
Xavier College extends heartfelt thanks to all our families and staff for their unwavering support of this year’s Project Compassion endeavour.
